Umm Al Emarat Park is one of Abu Dhabi’s oldest and largest urban parks, established as a community hub to educate youth about the nation’s ecosystem, heritage, and wildlife. The park features a variety of facilities and attractions, including a Botanic Garden, Great Lawn, Children’s Garden, Shade House, Animal Barn, Amphitheater, and Evening Garden. The Shade House, an iconic structure towering over the park, houses diverse plant species in a controlled, moisture-regulated environment. Additionally, in homage to its roots, over 200 trees from the original park were preserved and relocated to their original spots.

As a retrofit project, the primary challenge at UAE Park was managing four pre-existing irrigation controllers connected to a shared water source. Each operated independently, leading to program overlaps, inefficient pumping, and poor hydraulic performance.

The solution involved RADIUS converting the four earlier installed controllers to two Baseline BaseStation 3200 controllers and one Baseline FlowStation. This upgrade streamlined operations, improved hydraulic effciency, and reduced the irrigation window by optimizing the pump to operate at its peak capacity. These enhancements minimized pumping time, significantly reduced the overall carbon footprint, and eliminated the need for extensive trenching and wiring. The outcome was summarized as:

 - 30% reduction in water consumption

 - 20% reduction in maintenance costs

 - 90% fewer pipe breakages

 - 30% increase in asset lifetime, including pump station and irrigation system

 - Superior irrigation management practices and real-time data visibility and notifications

 - Healthier landscape with deeper root zones, tracked by geolocation and live mapping
